Stan, Stan, the Sanitizer Man Song For Your Classroom!

Fern Smith's Classroom Ideas Post About Using Hand Sanitizer In the Classroom and making it cute with a hand Sanitizer song!
Stan, Stan, The Sanitizer Man!
{Summer Fun Rerun ~ Summer 2018}

Back to School is my favorite time of year! This was one idea that worked all year and I'm excited to be including it in my classroom routines on the first day of school! I put this cute little dog by my hand sanitizer in the classroom. It cost me nothing, it was part of the stacks of stuff from my teenagers cleaning out their rooms to move. I told the boys and girls that his job is to watch and make sure they use the hand sanitizer when they come out of the restroom! Third Grade is HARD, the possibility of failing the FCAT and failing 3rd grade is very stressful! I am trying everything I can this year to have some fun & let the children live in a Primary World. So Stan, Stan the Sanitizer Man is watching them and I told them that he would let me know if anyone forgot to use it. It worked!

First week of school and everyone followed the routine. I even heard the children talking to him, they used my little chant....
"Stan, Stan, the Sanitizer Man,
Tell Mrs. Smith if they don't have clean hands!"

It's not perfect, but it works! :)

Enjoy!

Tuesday Teacher Tips: Transitions with a Yes Line!

Need help during the school day with your students' hallway transition behavior? I have just the tip with my FREE Yes Line! Fern Smith's Classroom Ideas Tuesday Teacher Tips with a free poster included for your classroom!
Tuesday Teacher Tips: Transitions From One Location to Another with A YES LINE!

** Rerun Fun! **
{May 2018}

Every Tuesday Michelle, from Teach 123, and I will have a new installment of my favorite post, Tuesday Teacher Tips!
Click here to see the previous weeks.

 This week's tip is about transitioning from your classroom to another location.

Fern Smith's Classroom Ideas Tuesday Teacher Tips: Transitions with a Yes Line!
When I was teaching, my students LOVED this free reward. When we were going to lunch or the playground, I was always looking for "A YES Line" our class term for a terrific line in the hallway. When we got to lunch, the SILENT, UNSPOKEN QUESTION was, "Were we good?" If the answer was YES, they were allowed to move out of our normal ABC line order line and then sit with a friend at lunch. {Click for my ABC order line order post.}

If we were going to recess, "A YES Line" meant a few extra minutes on the playground. If we were going to PE, or Music, or the Library, a YES line might mean a few minutes of King Chase Queen at the end of the day, anything that your group might love that year as a reward.
It will cost you absolutely nothing, but your kids are going to ♥love this reward!

When everyone is moving around right before walking into the lunch room door, and you notice one person not having a friend to sit with, you can single this person out in a positive, wonderful way.
Let's pretend it is Michelle, if you see no one is including her, you can say, "I love how quiet and polite Michelle is being, would someone like to include this good citizen?" Then, BAM, if no one says anything in that split second, say, "Michelle, why don't you go right to the front of the line and pick someone to go with you." Instantly, everyone will want to be her friend. :)

Here's a little FREEBIE for you, a poster for your classroom door to remind everyone of a YES LINE!
