Turning Oreo Cookies Into Silver and Gold Coins For St. Patrick's Day

** Throwback Thursday Rerun Fun **

Pinterest has some great pictures of Oreo Cookies painted gold for St. Patrick's Day. I put one of those pictures on my Facebook wall to share with my readers and the questions started....Have you done this? Did it dry quickly? Did it taste good?

Well, all good questions, I didn't know. So we went to the store and looked, and looked, annnnd looooked for the gold color mist that was on Pinterest.

However, we couldn't find any gold in our area, so we did the experiment with silver, a silver coin, close enough!

All you need are Oreo Cookies and Wilton Color Mist Spray! My children are 18 and 21, so this little experiment's results are for four adults. We sprayed the cookies, it was very simple, then the 18 year old immediately ate one, yucky, it was still wet and he said it tasted like "paint fumes" well...yeah, you were suppose to let it dry!

So we sprayed some more and let them dry over night and it is true, you can't taste the coloring. However, four out of four adults at our house agree that it masks the chocolate taste of the cookie part a little different. I would recommend doing this with your students, the spray is soooooo easy to use. But putting them up overnight before they eat them. You kids will just be so excited to be eating a St. Patrick's Day coin!
