Do You Need Help Organizing Your Students' Seatwork

Perfect for when you return in the New Year, this little tip is one of my favorites! When I taught third and fourth graders, I liked to organize my students' work with pocket notebooks, very inexpensive and easy to store in a basket on the center of their tables or in their desks.

The resource I am using in this post is Color By Numbers Divide By One and it contains three color by numbers, a little boy, a little girl and a cat. Every resource in my Third Grade Math Unit Seven has a "Friend" theme, with the friends looking for animals, zoo animals, jungle animals, pets, I've mixed it up for all sorts of cute, consistent variety. This resource also contains three additional pages with just math problems for you to use for morning work, homework, bell work, seatwork, quizzes, pretests or post-tests. The first one has math problems for dividing by one in order, the second page has math problems for dividing by one in mixed order and the third page has missing number problems for dividing by one.

I liked to organize my students' work with pocket notebooks, very inexpensive and easy to store in a basket on the center of their tables or in their desks.  You know how you get a phone call or someone comes to your door and you lose complete control of the class?

NO? Me neither, because I would keep some high interest sheets in their folder and when "put your heads down for a few minutes" would just NOT be appropriate, tell them to get their folders out and they can work on their color by code pages. You look good, you can talk to the adult at the door, or the principal on the phone, the class is well behaved and they are STILL actively engaged in learning. Win-Win!
