One of my very favorite books for January, for Winter, is The Mitten, by Jan Brett.
Even in my sunny Florida, children love the cooler weather and DESIRE to see snow and snowmen! The repetition and predictability in this book was something my own personal children loved. If you have followed me for a while, you know I love helping you incorporate math into your entire thematic unit.
One of my favorite winter resources is this cute Winter Animals Color Your Answers {Color By Numbers} Resource. It has 8 pages, one for each of the animals in the story.
But today, for you, my friends, I have one page for you to download for free. Perfect to place on the students' desk on the first day back to school as a preliminary activity....
What type of animal?
Why a mitten?
Has anyone heard of Jan Brett?
Then while the students do the math, you have a few minutes to prepare or get the next part of your lesson ready!
