Tuesday Teacher Tips: A Halloween Party!
If you read my last Teacher Tip {click here to catch up.} you know that I love Halloween! Seriously, it is the one time of year that a little boy REALLY thinks he is a PowerRanger and a little girl REALLY thinks she is Barbie.
I ♥love♥ Halloween for that reason!
I have always loved to cook and make things with my students for parties, it keeps them a lot calmer and occupied during the party. That being said, I have never had a party where some poor kid didn't throw up...can't stand blood and guts, thank God for Room Moms!
Depending on your grade level, this is a terrific activity I found it on Pinterest a few years ago and they loved. My 3rd graders made the entire thing, but if you have 1st graders, you could have the Room Mom or Dad, bring in pre-iced chocolate cupcakes and then have the parent volunteer make the red icing eyes.

And here is one of our beautiful creations...
And ... another ...
And... my favorite...
Life is not always a Pinterest moment,
and I'm OK with that! My photography is not always a Pinterest moment, and I'm good with that too :)
Quick and Easy Directions
Ingredients
- Step One ~ Get terrific Room Mom to make two dozen chocolate, unfrosted cupcakes.
- 1 can (16 ounces) chocolate frosting
- 24 fudge-striped Keebler style cookies
- 24 milk chocolate kisses
- Red decorating icing
- 24 plastic spoons
Directions
- Give each child a cupcake
- Give each child a plastic spoon with a scoop of icing already on the spoon
- Let the children ice the cupcake and THEN lick the spoon!
- Give each child a cookie and let THEM break it in half
- Insert the two cookie halves into the cupcake
- Next, place the chocolate kiss into the frosting for the head
- For more added fun, let THEM add two eyes with red decorating icing {what a mess, Oh, no, I mean what joy!}
Seriously, they loved making these :)
Here is another great idea I saw that needs minimum directions.
