This week I want to talk to you about John, Paul, George and Ben. This is a terrific book about four lads, George Washington, John Hancock, Paul Revere and Ben Franklin...Oh, yeah, there is a fifth lad, Tom, Thomas Jefferson, who was annoyingly independent! You students will love how these five boys get in trouble, but turn out OK as five of our Founding Fathers. Lane Smith's illustrations are hysterical, you might already know him from The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, or The Stinky Cheeseman and Other Fairly Stupid Tales. I ♥love him.
BUT, in the end of this story, there is a great section on what each lad did as an adult and it makes a terrific transition into a Presidents' Day lesson.

There is a terrific lady reading it for you on YouTube. It lasts a little longer than six minutes, so after recess, turn out the lights, cool off and let someone else read to the class for a few minutes! :)
The second video is a 30 second introduction song to get your class excited about the book!
