Lunch Bunch OR How To Make Lunch On Wednesdays EASY!

While You Are Planning For Next Year, Here's a Wonderful Idea That We Do...
Every Wednesday two people on my team make lunch for 12 people. TWELVE PEOPLE!! I know, you are thinking it is a crazy idea already ~ but keep reading. If you were on our team, you and a friend would make enough food for 12 people this Wednesday. A crock pot of chili, a pan of lasagna, pulled-pork, whatever your specialty is that most people will like. You also provide some sides, like fruit, bread and cookies. Then for the next four weeks you do nothing on Wednesdays but show up to eat! Fabulous! We work on a five week cycle of 10 people cooking. Number 11 and 12 are the principal and assistant principal...they eat for free! It is a lovely way to ♥kiss up♥ & they already do so much for us!! They're people too & it is just as nice for them on Wednesdays to wake up and not worry about packing lunch!
So ~ Pros:
*You wake up and not worry about cooking for 4 Wednesdays in a row!
*You get to try new and exciting foods and desserts!
*One less day a week you are staring at a cardboard box of frozen food!
*It develops a nice sense of getting to know each other and having something to talk about at lunch while you share recipes!
*One Wednesday every 5 weeks you are lugging food to school. In my case, The Panic is the Tuesday night before when I remember and the teen & I have to run up to Publix.
*Even with signs saying "Lunch Bunch Only, Do Not Eat" people will sometimes eat your food. {To avoid this have the first person coming to lunch set it out and then the last person to eat take the stuff back to their classroom.}

Also, one last bit of advice, don't go over 12. You can't make everyone happy all the time and the more you add, the more stress it will become. For example, I am allergic to all molds, so no mushrooms, blue cheese, peanuts, peanut butter, etc. But my group knew that before we started and they're good with those limits. When others start to see your fun and ask if they can join, tell them you will be happy to help them set up a second Lunch Bunch! All you really need is 4 people and you can start, 2 cook for 4 people this week, the other 2 cook next week! :)

I have started a board at Pinterest with our recipes, My Pinterest Board for Lunch Bunch Recipes, it only has my recipe on it, but if you "follow" it or "follow" me, you'll get the updates. If you need an invite to join Pinterest, just leave me a comment or an email, but forgive me when you get Hooked on Pinterest!

  1. Wow, what a great idea! I wonder if I can get my team to try this on Wednesday's...there's four of us so it would be great to start with a small group! Thanks for the idea!
    I'm your newest follower and will be adding you to my list of people to follow on pinterest too!

  2. Thanks Diane,
    Four would be perfect. One week on and then one week off! We constantly have people asking to join us, so next year we're going to do two groups based on the people who eat around 11am and the people who eat around 12pm! Keep me posted if you try it! :)

  3. What a brilliant idea! I've been browsing around your blog and I love all the versatile things I see. So much fun!
