Marker Tips Freebie!

Marker Tip Organization for Your Classroom and a Freebie! Fern Smith's Classroom Ideas

Do you ever start something and know that it is headed down the big ole' failure highway? But you're strapped in, and there is no exit in sight.....so you keep plowing forward....that was me this week. I've returned to teaching, a kindergarten classroom, my dream grade at my dream school close to home. As I was passing out a fall activity, I told each table to go get four markers each, red, yellow, brown and orange from my bucket o'markers. I was working it and doing everything right, "Table One, I love how your sitting, go get your markers." "Table Two, your being so nice to each other, go get your markers."
Well, as you can image, too many kids, too many colors to remember, too small of a basket of markers...... augh. Time to regroup! I then grabbed some of my favorite cans out of the cabinet and it was easier to quickly pick out the four colors and give a can of markers to each pair of students to share.

Another Great, Inexpensive Way to Create and Organize Table Supplies is to Use These Inexpensive Seasonal Cups That Usually Come in 3 or 6 Packs at the Dollar Store.

If you have an older group, or an art center, a basket of markers is a great way to hold everything.... or you can use the same type of basket but put a box of markers in a quart or gallon baggie. Then you or a helper can give each table or each student their own bag of markers and it makes clean up an ease! Five seconds flat, they can load up the baggie and zip it up for next time!
