Superbowl Sale at TeachersPayTeachers

Fern Smith's Classroom Ideas Superbowl Sale at TPT {TeachersPayTeachers} January 31, 2015 and February 1, 2015.
I'm ending the month with a BANG!

For the past couple of years, TeachersPayTeachers had a big Super Bowl Sale... we looked forward to it, we expected it, Christmas bills were over and it hit around pay day... boy, oh, boy did I stock up on clip art.  So, in remembering good times, the next two days, my ENTIRE TeachersPayTeachers store will be on sale for 20% off. So will my blogging buddy, Michelle at Teach 123. We want to make sure you MAKE YOUR GOAL!

What does that mean? If your goal is to improve test scores, we have test prep resources for you. If your goal is take home review work, we have resources for you. If you looking for independent work while you're testing with small groups, we have that too! So all day Saturday and Sunday we're not only offering 20% off our stores, we're also going to slip in a few extras, a few bonuses, maybe a new freebie or two! If you follow me on FB or IG, you'll get updates during the game of the extras I'm talking about!

Now, speaking of the big game, here is my very favorite part.

Tuesday Teacher Tips: Presidents' Day Resources,  Lessons and Freebies!
Every Tuesday Michelle, from Teach 123, and I will have a new installment of my favorite post, Tuesday Teacher Tips!
Click here to see the previous weeks.

February is a small, short month, but it is jam packed with all sorts of fun holidays to incorporate into the elementary classroom. Ready? This year has Groundhog Day, Black History Month, St. Valentine's Day, Presidents' Day, George Washington's Birthday, Abraham Lincoln's Birthday, Madis Gras, Ash Wednesday, Chinese New Year and Dental Health Month! Wow, all that and only 19 school days!

I found some of the cutest You Tube videos to use this month as a quick brain break, a chance to learn a little song and have a little fun while you also worry about Test Prep and all those other good things!

First Five Presidents
Lego's Presidents' Day {Perfect for a quick brain break!}
A Song To Remember the Presidents in Order
Nickelodeon's President Song {Not including Obama}

I've loved Math my entire life, which is why I make more Math resources compared to other subjects. If you are pushed for time, I have two Money resources that you can use while incorporating Presidents' Day into your Math lesson by talking about some of the presidents on coins and dollar bills.

FREE Telling Time Task Cards

Fern Smith's Classroom Ideas FREE Telling Time Task Cards - Teaching and Blogging with Time Zones and a Free Mixed Time To the Five Minutes Task Cards.
Blogging and Teaching With Time Zones!
In the modern and technological world, there are plenty of web sites and apps to help you know what time it is in different time zones. But this way is still my favorite. I have these clocks in my home office so I can tell what time it is in the Central and Pacific Time Zones with one look.

Why is it important for me to know what time it is in those two time zones? I write a monthly blog post for the Bright Ideas Blog Hop {click here to view them} and we all publish at the exact same time so our readers will be able to hop from blog to blog and read all the great ideas. This Blog Hop is published according to Central Time. So if the directions say 9:00 am Central Time, I know I have to publish at 10:00 am here in Florida.

I also love to work and collaborate with my online blogging buddy Michelle at Teach 123. We publish our Tuesday Terrific Teacher Tips each week {click here to view them} as well as Giveaways, Sales and Contests together! She lives in California, so I need to know what time it is there so that I can publish everything correctly. Like this post for example, Michelle is publishing about Time Zones and has a freebie for you on our Owl-Ways Be Inspired blog. So we want to make sure both posts go live at the same time.

By having these clocks in my office, not only do I think they look cool, like the 1950s and 1960s newspaper offices, I don't have to stop working to find a web site to help me get the times correct. This is also something you could put up in your classroom with a World map to give your students real life time examples. Do you have five minutes before lunch, ask the students if it is 4:00 pm in New York what time would it be in Washington state, etc. You can put it at your math center and the students could write task cards for each other with the map and your clocks. Perfect for your Early Finishers!

Speaking of Task Cards, I have a new freebie for you, FREE Mixed Time To the Five Minutes Task Cards, available at TPT.
