Place Value Practice Based on Common Core For Spring!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
I'm just published about one of my favorite Place Value Race Games...this one has a bug theme and is just terrific to add a little Spring color to your math center!
This game is a great way to differentiate for high, middle and low. It can be played with just the "Tens" version or the "Hundreds" version. Meanwhile, your high group students can be playing the same game, but with the "Thousands" version. It is also an excellent tool to use to teach in your small group and gather data for your RtI documentation. Observe a student and you will know instantly if they can problem solve to created the highest number when given three cards, 3, 6 and 8 for example. If they don't make it into 863, there's a problem!
My friend, Denise, from Sunny Days in Second Grade, took pictures of her children playing the game and sent it to me.
Students Playing the Candy Corn Version
She was the first blog I ever discovered and I adore her.
{Here is her blog post about the game and all her Halloween fun!}

Three separate sets of student directions, tens, hundreds and thousands.

A Butterfly for Today's Quick and Easy Art Project!

Follow my Blog with Bloglovin
Today's QUICK AND EASY ART is a Spring Butterfly!
This is perfect to use on a bulletin board or a Mother's Day card!
Directions:
Best on light blue or sky blue construction paper.
Paint the fingers of the child's hand purple, but paint the middle finger green.
Have them press their hand down on the paper.
Pour yellow and white on a paper plate, but do not mix.
Have them dip their pointer finger in the paint, on the edge where the yellow and white join.
Have the student randomly dot the butterfly.
Then outline the hand, draw two eyes, an antenna and a smile if you want it to be a little whimsical!
ENJOY!
