Installing New Fonts On Your Computer ~ Thursday's Tech Tips for Teachers!

Fern Smith's Thursday's Tech Tips for Teachers Linky Party!
Welcome!
Wow! Week Two!
Last week I started a new feature, Technology Tips for Teachers! Then I prayed that at least one person would read it, and maybe....just maybe...one person would link up!
Yea, they did! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I do ♥love a Linky Party and I hope you will link up. You may link up any blog post that has anything to do with Technology. A product you've made for a Smart Board, software you recommend for a classroom, an iPhone app you like, anything, anything at all that you feel deserves a shout out!
THIS THURSDAY'S TIP!
Installing New Fonts On Your Computer
When you purchase new fonts or download a freebie, here is how you install it so that you can use it in all of your software programs.
1. I am going to use a font named Rowdy High from my friend Nicole at Rowdy in Room 300. On her web site, her directions state to click on the picture to download.
2. Her link takes you to another site where her font is stored. On any site there will be a download button. Click download to "download" it! :)
3. When the next window pops up, click Save File and then OK.
4. My computer automatically saves everything in the Downloads Folder and I like that, it is easy to go right to it and open the folder. But if your computer saves it somewhere else, remember where it is saved to and open up that folder.

5. Click on the icon of the font and a new window will pop up with an Install button located at the top left. Click on the Install button and your computer will install it in the Font Folder automatically. It will now be available for use with most of your software programs!

6. Here is my example.....I used it in PowerPoint, it was sitting there in the font drop down box, all happy to be here and ready for me to use! ;)
Thanks for stopping by this week!

    2. So, I don't want to say that you've changed my life - because that would be really sad on my part...However...thanks so much for this post! I've been playing around with new fonts and now I'm font crazy!!! I just need some form of documenting system to credit whoever it is that created the font. My products are going to be so much more original, creative and per-ty!!! Thanks:)

    3. Your comment made my day! Thank you so much! I use a Word document and save it as the person or place's name. So I have a document that is called Suzie's Clip Art and then I type the name of the font, using that font, in that document and make it really big and include the person's TOU!! :) Then I have like a checklist of fonts and I with the TOU!

  6. Thank you so much for this post, Fern!! I hate to admit this, but I didn't know how to do this or that it was so simple. I have fonts that I had downloaded but didn't know how to get into my programs! :)
