### We're DEAD Every Friday!

Drop Everything And Draw!
School starts at 8:20 and our grade level has to be at our Resource Class {PE, Music & Technology} at 8:30. So that gives us about 8 minutes of  homeroom a day, 40 minutes a week, 160 minutes a month.....well, you get the picture. It can be crazy or it can be calm, what I decide to do sets the tone for the day.
So ~ each day we start off with DEAR, Drop Everything And Read. Sure, it is an old expression, some of you young-cute-fresh-out-of-college-new-teachers might have even done DEAR when you were in elementary school! But it is one that works!
My students come in quietly, well mannered and prepared to start their work day calmly!
But Friday, well Friday is a different story. My co-teacher last year started this and I ♥love, ♥love, ♥love it. If everyone has been a good citizen during homeroom during the week we have a DEAD FRIDAY! We Drop Everything And Draw! They love it, they think the title is hysterical! They can even get out of their assigned seats and sit with friends. It makes the rest of the week wonderful, all I need is one person to not have a book or start being silly and I say, "Do we need to kill DEAD Friday?" They love that expression too, but it works, they get right back to reading due to the positive peer pressure of their classmates who want a DEAD Friday!
It works! It works! It works! Try it, you might like it!

### Organization ~ Sunglasses At Your Bedroom Door

Sunglass "Holder" at Your Door!
Right when you walk in my teen's door, she keeps her sunglass collection.

I have one pair and I keep them in my purse, so this wouldn't really work for me. But I thought it was very cool and wanted to share it with you! It is sooooooo easy to make, just two clear pushpins.
That's it!
{The Mom-in-Me likes that it only makes very tiny holes!}

Along with some very funny reader comments too!

### Repurposing ~ Headboard with Christmas Lights

My Teen's Headboard
These wall stickers made my teen's new room look as cute as can be, a more "adult" look! Then she added these Christmas lights as night lights on a timer.
I love it!
It adds a nice glow to her room!

### Using Clear Pushpins to Make Changing Bulletin Boards Easy Work!

My Students' 2012 Math, Behavior and Science Goals!

This year I have started putting the students' items up on my bulletin boards with clear pushpins! I can change out a bulletin board in 5.SECONDS.FLAT! Just kidding, but it is pretty~durn~close! :)
Every single time I take papers down I think, "Why did I never use these?" I also ♥love, ♥love, ♥love the fact that the students' papers don't get ripped like they use to when I stapled all four corners!

Here's one more picture I would like to share from today. I took it as a close up of the pushpins/thumbtacks and then I realize my little fellow had drawn a picture of himself using my new Mickey Mouse flash cards!

Don't you love it when they appreciate/love something you gave them?!?! Click {HERE} to see my Mickey Mouse flash card post, it is getting a lot of pins and repins on Pinterest!
